Recommends 5 Books List:

《The Choice: Embrace the Possible》by Dr. Edith Eva Eger

This book is partly a memoir and partly a guide to processing trauma.
One of the few living Holocaust survivors to remember the horrors of the camps, Edie has chosen to forgive her captors and find joy in her life every day. Years after she was liberated from the concentration camps Edie went back to college to study psychology. She combines her clinical knowledge and her own experiences with trauma to help others who have experienced traumatic events. Dr. Eger has counselled veterans suffering from PTSD, women who were abused, and many others who learned that they too, can choose to forgive, find resilience, and move forward.

The Choice weaves Edie's personal story—from her early life in Hungary to her time in the concentration camps, her return to Hungary, journey from Europe to America, struggles to assimilate and to deal with the grief, shame, and loss she experienced—with case-studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance. Edie's story is an inspiration for everyone. And her message is powerful and important: “Your pain matters and is worth healing, you can choose to be joyful and free.”

2.《Cloud Atlasby David Mitchell

《Cloud Atlas》by David Mitchell

The novel features six characters in interlocking stories, each interrupting the one before it: a reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan's California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified dinery server on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilization. The narrators of CLOUD ATLAS hear each other's echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changes in ways great and small.

3.《The Ride of a Lifetimeby Robert Iger

《The Ride of a Lifetime》by Robert Iger

Disney CEO and the most influential person of Time Magazine 2019 Share the journey of reshaping the magic kingdom

Robert Iger took over as CEO of Disney in 2005, which is in an era of unprecedented competition and rapid technological change. In this regard, Robert Iger has made Disney stand out with three core ideas: return to quality first, conform to rather than confront the trend of technology, and look to the world, and eventually make Disney a global international brand.

Twelve years later, Disney has become the world's most respected media kingdom, including Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox, with assets as much as five times before Robert Iger took over.

Robert Iger wrote the experience of operating Disney and leading 200,000 employees in this book, and shared the qualities necessary to be a leader.

4.《The Great Influenzaby John M. Barry

《The Great Influenza》by John M. Barry

The definitive account of the 1918 Flu Epidemic. "Monumental"-Chicago Tribune.

At the height of WWI, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in twenty-four months than AIDS killed in twenty-four years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision of science and epidemic disease. Magisterial in its breadth of perspective and depth of research and now revised to reflect the growing danger of the avian flu, The Great Influenza is ultimately a tale of triumph amid tragedy, which provides us with a precise and sobering model as we confront the epidemics looming on our own horizon. John M. Barry has written a new afterword for this edition that brings us up to speed on the terrible threat of the avian flu and suggest ways in which we might head off another flu pandemic.

5.《Good Economics for Hard Times》by Abhijit V. Banerjee

《Good Economics for Hard Times》by Abhijit V. Banerjee

In this ambitious, provocative book Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo show how traditional western-centric thinking has failed to explain what is happening to people in a newly globalized world: in short Good Economics has been done badly. This precise but accessible book covers many of the most essential issues of our day--including migration, unemployment, growth, free trade, political polarization, and welfare.
